Abstraction: the geometric abstract painting of Justin Bailey

• DEEPER BLUE • ORANGEOLOGY •

The "Geometric Paintings" were made in the mid 1990's to mid 2000's. Some of these are big paintings, like the two above. These are abpout stripes and strata and colour, quite often they are a monochrome coloure.

• AVINITLARJ • MELANIN •

Another two big abstracts painted in the same period. I had made a load of canvases all at once over a few weeks, instead of doing any painting, and there were a few big ones. These two are similar and are obviously from the same time.

• SILVER SCREEN • WHO"S AFRAID? •

So this work is more rigid and "tight" than some other freer abstrats styles. I was using acrylic, oils, oil pastels, irridesent and interference paints, which change colour when viewed at different angles.

• VIRTUAL VIRIDESCENCE • ALISON & ANDY •

Big and little. Virtual Viridescence was painting over a few year and I think it is a beautiful looking work, I'm quite happy with this one, it looks good from neaer and afar. Alsion & Andyis a small painting that belongs to my sister and my brother in law - hence the ttile.

• PHUZZY LOGIC • METAPHYSICAL MATRIX •

Phuzzy Logic just sort of came together, and I didn't plan it as such, although it looks very organised, one I added the grid. Like wise Metaphysical Matrix is based on a square form with a central energy point of light and matter and exixtence.

• 1728 • SNAP TO THE GRID •

1728 is the number of the squares in this abstraction about colour balance and relationship. It is an exercise in geometry. If you look closely there are distint red/brown squares of 9, and blue/green opposites. Snap To The GriD is a similar work but using individual colour circles.
